A Love Story
Fate brought Jennie and Steve together in the summer of 2012 when they were both working as zip line guides for Alaska Excursions in Skagway, Alaska. Although they established a strong connection that summer they went their separate ways at the end of season to work as lift operators at different mountains; Steve to China Peak in California and Jennie to Telluride, Colorado. Despite the distance they kept in touch daily, and on February 8th Steve drove out to Telluride to surprise Jennie and ask her to be his girlfriend. On January 20th, 2016, after three years of love and adventure, Steve proposed to Jennie in the Enchanted Forest at the top of the Sunshine Express chair lift in Telluride, Colorado after a day of ski biking with his family. He got down on one knee in the snow and popped the question with a beautiful cross-section of an Aspen branch that he had hand-carved into a heart with the words "Marry Me?" Jennie said "Yes!" and they are now planing their wedding for Spring 2017.

As a couple we have always valued experiences above material things. That being said, we'll be putting some careful thought into our wedding registry in the next few months.
As our current living situation doesn't provide much storage, financial gifts are also being accepted to help us establish our new lives together. We are planning on buying 5-20 acres of property in the next two or three years, and we would like to buy a small yurt to live in until we have saved enough to build our dream home. If you would like to contribute to our future together you can do so HERE. HOTELThere are so many great places to stay in Omaha, but in keeping with the historical theme of our wedding we have chosen the Magnolia Hotel as our official wedding accommodation. We have negotiated a special rate with the hotel for our guests if they book before March 1st. If you would like to join us at the Magnolia you can make your reservation HERE.

WEDDING PLANSWe plan on getting married at the historic Joslyn Castle in Omaha, Nebraska in April 2017. The castle is a 35 room four-story mansion built in 1903 by George Joslyn, Steve's second cousin three times removed. The 19,360 square foot home has been beautifully restored and is decorated with intricate carved wood, stained glass, chiseled stone, mosaic tile and wrought iron.
After the ceremony we're going to have a picnic lunch at the pavilion next to the lake in the historic Hanscom Park. We chose this venue because it is a unique part Steve's family history, and also because it is located in the center of the country, halfway between our families and friends on both coasts! |
